Prospectus: Introduction

We would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your child. We hope that your association with the school will be a happy and rewarding one, and that we can all work together for the benefit of your child during these important Junior School years.

The Bitterne Schools were opened in 1856 as church schools, beside the Parish Church. In 1978 both schools moved to new buildings on the present site. They have had a close association with the village of Bitterne and continue to have three Foundation Governors, representing the church, on the Governing Body. We aim to provide a high standard of education within the context of a Christian tradition.

There are 235 children on roll. Age range 7 to 11 years (School Year 3-Year 6).

The Standard Number in each year (ie the number of places available) is 60. In September 2005 the school received 59 applications for admission to Year 3.
